- History / Biographical
- The 2003 Rediscovery Canoe Quest, "Nations Pulling Together - Retracing the Ancestral Highway," was an 8-day journey undertaken by six canoes along the Skeena River from Kispiox to Prince Rupert. First proposed by Witsuwit'en House Chief Jim Angus and his wife Doreen, the voyage was opened to members of all Rediscovery camps (Indigenous wilderness/culture programs) on the Skeena watershed, as well as youth from around the world. Sixty-five youth and a support crew of 15 adults, representing the Babine Carrier, Witsuwit'en, Gitksan, and Tsimshian First Nations as well as Brazil, Guatemala, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, Myanmar, Kenya, Rwanda, Thailand, and the United States, ultimately participated in the event.
