- Description
- Metal rectangular bell with wire clapper. The sides of the bell are riveted together by two rivets on each side. The top of the bell has a rectangular loop and a nail that has been bent on both ends. The top of the bell measures 8 cm X 3 cm then increases to a 9.7 cm X 6.6 cm mouth. One part of the rim is arched due to erosion. Inside the bell hangs a formed wire in the shape of a question mark that is used in place of a clapper.
- History Of Use
- Metal rectangular cowbell. This bell was secured on around the neck of a cow in order that the location of the cow could be determined by the sound of the bell. Bells such as this one can be found in 1929 Woodward's Catalogue, p. 122.
