- The desk calculator is situated in a wooden box with leather straps and gold metal clasps. The lid has two hinges to swing open. On one side of the box is a plaque that reads "CALCULATOR, COURSE-SPEED / MARK II-A/ THE STANLEY MANUFACTURING CO. LIMITED / TORONTO CANADA / SERIAL No. S.T. 1172".

- Description
- The desk calculator is situated in a wooden box with leather straps and gold metal clasps. The lid has two hinges to swing open. On one side of the box is a plaque that reads "CALCULATOR, COURSE-SPEED / MARK II-A/ THE STANLEY MANUFACTURING CO. LIMITED / TORONTO CANADA / SERIAL No. S.T. 1172".
Inside the box is the calculator, which is held in place by wooden supports covered in green felt. metal base with 'AIRSPEED M.P.H.' in white on the left, and 'AIRSPEED KNOTS' in red on the right. There are numbers on either side of the writing. There is a straight ruler on the top titled "GROUND SPEED" and a circle labelled "WIND DIRECTION". There are various inscritions inside the lid, including: "TAYLOR B.C.", "NZ 413090", "OLSON 42", AND "CANADA". Other markings in pencil on the right inside the lid are difficult to read including: "J.N. JUNKER R7211 Class 19", "C. ? EDWARDS ? Class 36"
There is also a piece of paper glued inside the lid with directions on how to move the Wind Direction Disc.
