On the left there is a black row of buttons marked 1-9 and on the right there are two rows of black buttons marked 1-9 also. On the left there is an orange button marked 'Total' and a blue button marked 'Sub Total'. On the right is an orange button marked 'Repeat'. There is a lever on the right hand side of the machine. On the top there is a roll of paper attached to metal so it can be fed through to be used as receipts. b) The roll of brown paper for printing receipts.
History Of Use
This adding machine was originally owned by Tom McMartin, a bookkeeper who worked at the Watson's store. When this adding machine was in use, the employees were paid in a lump sum at the end of the month, so the adding machine was very valuable! Tom McMartin took the machine with him when he started working in the C.N.R. building. Mr. Joe McDonald took over Toms's job and his machine. When more updated machines came out, Joe took the machine home with him, and later donated it to the B.V. Museum.

Description
Small circular off-white button. Printed onto the front in faded red text: "Bulkley Valley / SMITHERS / 1919 / B.C. / Fall Fair". Made of metal.
History Of Use
Although this small artifact looks like a pin, it does not have an actual pin component with which to affix it to clothing, etc. In addition, no other pins from the Bulkley Valley Fair have ever been discovered. Thus, this item was likely originally part of a prize ribbon; small buttons were sometimes affixed to the center of ribbons (see 2019.10.2 and 2019.10.3 for examples).
