The piece of equipment pictured is a binder, which came into the area circa the 1930s; worked similar to a mower/combine, cutting grain and binding them into sheeves which were dried in stooks 2-3 days. Man standing is Paddy Carr, machine operator is unidentified.
- Info on binder from Lloyd Dodding of Hazelton (842-5728). Back of postcard reads "Hope you are better, Jean, & ready for the skating. Our rink wil be opened Xmas Day. This is a picture of part of the Carr Ranch. Paddy is the one standing."
