History / Biographical
This building (1226 Main Street) was built in 1914 and originally housed the Smithers Tribune newspaper. From 1931 to 1945 it housed Margaret Dunlop's Fashion Shoppe, which was later sold to Anna Stewart (1945-1947), Mary Berg and Marjorie Silver (1947-1959) and finally to the Beerdas, who operated it as a Dry Goods store until 2017. As of 2020-2022 the building held the offices of Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen.
