Emerson and Fanny Berndt lived in this house the entire time they were living in Telkwa. They may have left Telkwa in the late 70s or early 80s. They lived near a family named Widen. The donor's parents, Jim and Grace Hopkins, lived in Telkwa for a short time in a house at the far end of "the bench."

History / Biographical
From a collection of photos of the Berndt family. Emerson and Fanny Berndt originally settled near Round Lake and began farming in the 1930s. Note from donor: "I think Bussinger had a store in Telkwa? I remember the name being mentioned a few times when I was young and we were visiting. Since this is signed by Ruth, I am guessing that it was sent by her to Fan and Em when they were living in the Lower Mainland."
