- The Thompson, Flemming and McTavish mill was founded in the late 1940s and served as one of the largest employers in the Telkwa area. Its ownership changed hands several times in the 1960s; it was closed down around 1970, briefly reopened, and then permanently shut down when it moved to Smithers (as Pacific Inland Resources) in 1972. It was located where West Fraser Concrete later stood in Telkwa (Alder Street, along the west bank of the Bulkley River).
