- Annie Murray Bruce (1911-2008) was born in Prince Rupert to Alexander and Helen (Nell) Murray. In 1919 the family moved to the Bulkley Valley and established a ranch at Doughty. Annie married Alexander Bruce in 1935 and had two children, Betty and Sandy. She and her husband ran a farm in Driftwood for nearly 50 years.

- John Gyger was born in Adelboden, Switzerland to Fritz and Rosa Gyger. He and his family came to Canada in 1937 as part of the first wave of Swiss immigrants to the Bulkley Valley. Gyger made a living by farming, logging, and working on the railway. He married Wilma Gorley in 1947 and had three children.

Gyger spent a year and a half at school in Smithers before dropping out to work on the family farm. He recounts the building he attended school in (misidentified as Chandler Park School, which did not open until 1963; likely Smithers Elementary/Public School instead), the teachers who taught him, the differences between Swiss and Canadian schools, and the lack of Indigenous students in the classrooms. From around 34:50 to 37:10 he briefly discusses several local Indigenous people and the Lejac Residential School. - Gwen Young was born in Oxfordshire, England in 1929 and married Ernest Ellis in 1947. Shortly afterwards the couple immigrated to the Bulkley Valley and began farming near Telkwa. Ellis served as the first female postal carrier in the Telkwa area and was highly involved with the Quick Women’s Institute. Her husband worked for the Bulkley Valley Coal Mine, ran a coal delivery business, and helped build roads.

- Phyllis Cummins Davidson (1905-2003) was born in Cedar Point, Kansas and moved to British Columbia as an infant. She taught briefly at the Evelyn School in 1926 before marrying her husband Percy Davidson and having three children (Phyllis, Jim, Margaret), then returned to teaching from 1957 to 1972 at Muheim and Walnut Park Elementaries. She was also involved with community organizations including the BV District Hospital Auxiliary, the Red Cross, the Fall Fair Board, and the Senior Citizens’ Society.

- Dulcina ‘Della’ Carpenter Herman (1915-2004) was born in Saskatchewan to Jack and Laura Carpenter; she moved to Smithers with her family in 1923. Della’s career as an educator spanned over four decades, beginning with a job in a one-room schoolhouse at Decker Lake in 1935. She taught at Smithers Elementary/Muheim Memorial School from 1939 to 1955, at which point she became principal until her retirement in 1981. She married Edwin Herman in 1942 and had one daughter, Dian Cromer.

- Reg Heal (1917-2004) was born to Ernest and Mary Heal on the family farm near Telkwa. He worked on the farm and in the Telkwa Coal Mine, as well as cutting ice on Lake Kathlyn. In 1943 he married Jean Gregerson, with whom he had two children, Lawrence and Barbara. In 1956 the Heals moved to Smithers, where Reg worked for the school district.
