Description
a-b) A pair of brown leather boots. The soles are black with a diamond pattern in the middle and white lacing around the outside. The heels are slightly raised with small holes around the outside. They are laced with brown laces through brown eyelets. The boots are tall with a large strip of leather that would secure around the ankle. On one side of the strip there are two black metal buckles and on the other side there are two thin strips of leather with many brown eyelets that would allow the wearer to adjust the tightness. The whole of the boot is sewn together with white lacing.
Narrative
Some research shows that these are American Military boots that would have been used in World War Two.

On the sole of the boot there is "NEW JERSEY RUBBER 00" embossed and on the heel there is " TUFTEX HBN SA" embossed. On the inside of the ankle section of the boot there is "9 A HT J.F.MCELWAIN CO. 9 A 93002 BOSTON NOV. 6 W19-074 DEPOT 1944 OM272" printed in black ink.

On the right side of the mask is another round piece of metal where a filter would screw on to the main mask.

Description
A rubber gas mask with a brown metal cannister. The top part is a mask formed to fit the face with a brown fabric covering. The rear of the mask has six elasticized straps which are joined to a cross shaped piece of rubber. Two round pieces of glass bordered with a metal frame is embedded into the rubber for the eyes. The mouthpiece of the mask is a dome shaped piece of metal with evenly spaced holes encircling the outside. Below this is a silver coloured metal tube with a slanted top piece that connects to a grey rubber hose. This hose is ribbed and expands down to the brown cannister. The cannister is oblong and its sides are ribbed vertically at the bottom and horizontally at the top. On one side near the bottom is two horizontal openings with a slim piece of metal extending vertically over the centre of them.

"GSW MACDONALD PLANT TORONTO" imprinted and "11/2/42 0 SBT 166" is embossed on top of the cannister. Also on top is "P3" and a "C" with an arrow in it stamped in black ink. The bottom has "GSW, NO 4A, 1941" imprinted and "DR/1, E/ VI" on it. Printed on the brown fabric on the mask is "23 1 42 92 LOI 9585" and some other indecipherable writing.

Description
A gas mask with a black rubber inner lining and a tan coloured fabric covering. On the back of the mask there are three fabric straps connected by a T shaped metal piece. Two safety pins are also attached to these straps near the metal piece. The large eye hole is covered with plastic. The mouth piece is a large circular piece of black metal with holes evenly spaced across the front of it.

Description
A rectangular, five gallon, metal fuel container. Its colour was originally olive green but wear and rust have changed it to more of a grey. Its handle is made of three metal bars and in front of these is a spout. In the spout is a screw-on metal lid attached to the body of the can with a metal chain. The lid has four small loops of metal around the outside of it. Engraved into both the larger sides of the can is a large X.
Narrative
Bought from Bill Alen in Victoria BC, 1960, from a war surplus sale. The Canadian army bought this jerry can from the U.S.
