History Of Use
Ernest Hann 1889-1982. See historical Research file: Hann,Ernest/Addie for more information. This Gavel was given to Ernie when he retired from the position of President for the BV Fall Fair Organization. Mr. Hann was very active in the community and this is just one of the items he received for his donated time. Other clubs he belonged to were: Lapidary club, Curling club, Band club, Masonic Lodge, and he was on the School Board and Hospital Board. He was also the founder of the BV Museum.

History Of Use
The Smithers Community Band Band first competed at the Pacific Northwest Music Festival in April 1995, earning an "Excellent" rating and an invitation to compete at the Calgary Musicfest in May of that year. In 1996 the band again participated in the festival, receiving a "Superior" rating. Band conductor at the time was Lauren Hearn.

The Smithers Community Band earned the overall Silver Award at Musicfest Canada '95 in Calgary. At the time of the win the band had been in existence for little more than a year. Band conductor at the time was Lauren Hearn.

The Duncan Ross Cup for hockey. The years are: 1912-1913 (Hazelton), 1913-1914 (Smithers), 1914-1915 (Hazelton), with the champions listed underneath each date. The cup is quite large, with a large multi-teared wooden base. The right handle is missing, and the left one is broken.
