History / Biographical
The vein was originally discovered by Jack and Jabe Ashman in the early 1920's. It was bought by J.F. Duthie and yielded lead, zinc, steel galena, silver, and ruby silver. In the late 1920s the operation moved to the lower level of the mine. It closed in the 1930s and in 1940 was bought by J.J. Herman and closed again during WW2.
