One one end is a leather loop screwed, alogn with an orange and blue sticker (peeling) that has side profile of a stylized man with a gas mask and hard hat. The sticker says "Draeger Man" which is a term to refer to mine rescue workers.On the other end is metal and leather stand for slotting in a carbide lamp, perhaps.

The style of this hat dates back to about 1850 to early 1900's. Was referred to as a pill-box cap style and is believed to be of a French design.

History Of Use
Hat was worn by Reginald John Collison as a member of the Rotary Band. Reginald Collison came to Smithers in 1928, deceased 1985.
