The Evelyn Farmers' Institute was an organization developed to promote and improve agriculture and animal husbandry in the Evelyn area. One of the longest-lasting Farmers' Institutes in northern B.C., it held its inaugural meeting in 1928 and was active until at least the 1980s.
Custodial History
The item was donated to the Museum by Mike Wyllie on November 27th 2020 and accessioned into the BVM discrete item collection.

Donor information unknown. Map was kept on top of the map cabinet in the vault for an unknown period of time and left unaccessioned during the 2016-2018 archival reorganization. It was finally accessioned in early September 2020.

Photo was originally taken by Interior News staff for publication in the paper. It was retained by the News until being transferred to the Bulkley Valley Museum, likely in 2007, as part of a large donation of photographs, negatives, and textual records. Item was stored in Room 6 until being found in collections and accessioned in Fall 2020.

Photo of survivalist Max Schat, of Evelyn, with an igloo he built himself. Schat had taught wilderness survival to search-and-rescue teams since the 1950s.

Mabel Jean Gregerson Heal (1920-2014) and Ernest Reginald 'Reg' Heal (1917-2004) were longtime residents of the Bulkley Valley, growing up in Evelyn and Telkwa respectively. They married in 1943 and moved into Smithers in 1956, where they raised two children.
Custodial History
Item was received by the Interior News, likely in the early 2000s, and transferred to the Bulkley Valley Museum at an unknown point in time along with other archival materials. It was found in collections in Room 6 in early January 2021 and accessioned.
Scope and Content
