This plane is one of 3 donated by Angus Kerr; 1971.52.3 a-c
History Of Use
Mr. Angus Kerr settled in the Quick area and began farming. Kerr road is named after him. He passed away in Oct.94. No other information available at this time. This is one of the 3 different moulding planes donated by him. This plane is smaller than the other two. It is called a Hollow or Fork Staff because it has a groove beside the hollow and the blade is forked. These type of moulding were used to define the ceilings from the walls and for trim on other things.

Metal currycomb with wooden handle. This currycomb has three metal pieces at the bottom that have been bent to form six rows of corrugated edges. Two elongated pieces of metal that make up the sides of the comb have been riveted on top of the ends of the scraping edges. Imprinted on both pieces of elongated metal is 'MCKINNON, ST. CATHERINES, COLUMBUS, ONT.'. A metal bar with spikes extends from one end of the elongated metal piece to the other metal piece which has been riveted on top, this is called the mane comb. A wire brace, which is one piece, extends from the handle over and through the scraping edges and back to the handle again. The handle is round and bulges at the center then tapers to a metal collar at one end. The other end has an oval piece of wire sticking out of it, this is called an eyelet.

Currycomb used for grooming horses. A comb such as this one was advertised for use in the 1902 Sears Catalogue. p. 413. This currycomb was found in the Blacksmith shop at the Bayson farm on Newens Road which had been established in the late 1800's.

Across from this is an angled plate that supports the wedge and bit. The handle is attached at the top and a screw below that adjusts the depth of the cut. The bit has 2 plates, secured by a skew that can adjust the depth of the bevelled cutting edge. The wedge has a door lock/release handle to secure it in place. This mounts on the outside of the bit. The whole thing weighs approx. 3 - 4 pounds.

For more info see Historical Research file: Hann,Ernest/Addie. This is a Stanley Cabinet Scraper used for the final smoothing before sandpapering. It removes the slight ridges left by the plane. It is also used to smooth surfaces that are difficult to plane because of curly or irregular grain.

The jaws of the wrench are 8cm in length and 2.5cm thick with a threaded bolt for adjusting. The head of the wrench has the following marking 'CNR', it is very faint. On the handle of the wrench are the cast markings 'McKINNON - 15 IN.'. On the opposite side of the handle are the cast markings 'MADE IN CANADA'.

A-Washing machine has a large, round, copper basin washtub fitted and supported by a three-legged black, steel, brace frame with castors on the bottom and a light, grey colored tin lid. Underneath basin is a gear and pulley mechanism that is connected to a vertical agitator inside tub. Paddles from the agitator are missing. The inside of tub is lined with shiny, stainless steel. The legs are braced by three 17.5cm black metal sections. There are two round brackets located on one side of the washing machine, the brackets are aligned and appear to have accomodated a round object such as hose or pipe. The sides of washing machine basin are made of copper and there is a small black and gold metal plate measuring 15.5cm by 3.5cm on the side near top. Plate states "EASIETTE 3 VACUUM ELECTRIC WASHER" "H.E.P.C. APP. NO. 443" "SERIAL NO.E16455" "PATENTED CANADA OCT. 10, 1911 U.S. MAR. 26, 1912" "EASY WASHING MACHINE CO. LIMITED, TORONTO, ONTARIO". The round tin lid on top of machine has a small handle on top and small 3cm by 4.5cm opening near the edge.
B - Grey colored, round, tin lid with a 17cm by 2.5cm small metal handle in the middle. There is a small 3cm by 4.5cm square opening on top of lid near the edge. Lid mesures 63cm in diameter and is 5cm thick.
C - Long round canvas belt measuring 330cm by 5cm wide. It is made of doubled canvas and has a black rubber strip in the middle extending the full length of belt. Belt is joined together to form loop by metal staples.
D - Shorter round canvas belt measuring 160cm long by 5cm wide. It is made of doubled canvas and has a blackrubber strip in the middle extending the full length of the belt. Belt is joined together to form loop by small metal clip and reinforced by leather strip woven three times through belt.
E - Shorter round canvas belt measuring 180cm long by 5cm wide. It is made of doubled canvas and has a black rubber strip in the middle extending the full length of the belt. Belt is joined together to form loop by small metal clip.

Washing machine was originally donated by Mrs. Mary Wood who lived in the Driftwood area. The washing machine was operated by belts and a vacuum electric motor. An accession card was found inside machine however no number recorded or located after extensive researching. The card states the washing machine wasoriginally donated in July of 1978. Three canvas drive belts varying in sizes are located inside the washing machine.
