Description
This item looks like a screw driver, it flattens on the end and then comes to a point with a hole in it like the eye of a needle. It is 22cm long in all. The handle is made of wood.
Narrative
The size and sturdy construction indicate it was likely used as a trussing needle by a butcher to stitch poulty and other roasts before cooking. Alternatively, it may have been used as an awl to stitch leather.
History Of Use
This item was found with a tag that states that it is 200 years old.

Object is a large, 4 piece wooden boot form. Each piece fits together wit grooves. A: This piece is from the toe to the front of the ankle. There is an "MB" burned into the bottom and a ridge that tapers in at the back of the foot. B: A long, half-cylindrical shape with two wooden prongs sticking out of the bottom, and a short, squared off ridge at the unvarnished back. There is "MB" burned into the unvarnished side. There is a brass oval plaque on the top, reading " Marhsall and Willats / Boot Makers / 478 Oxford St. W.". There is an R engraved on either side of the plaque. C: A long thin piece of wood with a rounded handle at the top and ridge in one side, and a groove on the other. There is an "MB" burned into the grooved side, and an R engraved on either side of the handle. D: A half-cylindrical wooden shape that tapers down to a rounded bottom. There is a groove in the unvarnished side and an "MB" burned there.

The boot was apparently used by the Provincial Police when making a pair of leather police boots.
