Description
Desk has two 138cm, black, wooden runners on the bottom connected to two cast iron braces for sides with a pivoting brown wooden seat and compartment for books. The bottom of this drawer is missing. The back of seat is a curved wooden structure . There is an additional seat on the front of the desk and an additional drawer compartment on the back for aligning more desks.
History Of Use
Wooden school desk was donated by Louis Schibli of School District No.53. These desks have a drawer at the front and a seat at the back as well as a full seat and work surface in the middle so when an additional desks are aligned with another desk you access the front and back creating more seating and working space.

This all wooden brown filing cabinet has a sliding drawer with brass handle, card plate and small round tag on the front. Inside drawer has a small metal doweling running lengthwise. A 14cm by 7.5cm tattered white sticker exists on the back. It states 'CANADIAN NATIONAL RAILWAYS' and beside it 'FROM: CANADIAN NATIONAL RAILWAYS' 'STATIONERY STORES' 'VANCOUVER' 'NEW FORM 4433'. On the bottom of the filing cabinet in ink letters the following is written: 'MANUFACTURED BY THE KEEWATIN LUMBER CO. LIMITED' 'WINNIPEG'.
History Of Use

Description
This green electric pump is welded to a 14.5cm by 41cm four legged metal stand with a large six spoked wheel attached to the rear of pump. Piston casing and rods are connected to a rectangular object with two orange gaskets and a 13cm rounded cylinder. There are to small elbowed pipes on pump, one running to the side and the other straight out. Visible cast markings on the pump 'V. & K. ELECTRIC SERVICE PUMP' 'THE VAILE KIMES CO.' 'DAYTON, OHIO'. A small square plate on top of pump indicates '91565' and on another rectangular plate near bottom of pump 'FIG 207 NO__3'.
History Of Use
One of the first electric water pumps used in town site. Brought into Smithers by the late Dr. Hankinson and used in the home of Mr. E. Hann for many years. Electric motor on the pump is missing.

Description
Hand pump is red with long curved handle, rounded spout and a 10.5cm brass section near the bottom. Base is rounded and open on back side with a flat cast front, it is bolted to a small piece of plywood painted red. Next section is a brass pipe 10.5cm in height and then the cast metal with arced spout that has a vertical pipe attached for water feed from the source. There is a loose fitting on this vertical pipe to connect to another pipe. The handle is connected by a bolt and pin to pump mechanism near top. Visible cast marks on top and handle '2144' 'MYERS' '2145'. Cast marks on the spout '2328' 'MYERS'. Cast marks on the base 'CLASS' 'PAT.NOV 20 88'. Thin white wire securing handle to neck of pump.
History Of Use
Pump was used for manual water pumping in households or on farms.

Description

On two sides of the body are indented designs. The other two sides have the head of some sort of animal protruding out. Part b, the lid, is rounded, with a statue of a animal, (dog) on the top. One of the animals ears are missing. Part c is a piece of yellow paper with history. Kept inside burner.
History Of Use
This item is of Oriental design. Came with yellow paper with info. on burner. Paper states (1318-1644). It is called a 'Temple Dog'. Original owner was Anges Neave who moved to Francois Lake from England about 1955. In 2016 consultation was sought from Gwen Adams of the Royal Ontario Museum. She examined pictures and determined it to be a replica, and not a Qing Dynasty piece.

Description
A carbide miner's lamp consisting of two parts.The bottom (B) is a resevoir for holding fuel. The resevoir has a screw in the top half, and rubber o-ring to seal it. The top (A) has a reflector, inside which is a spigot for releasing the fuel and flint, which is connected to the main part of the lamp. On the top of main part is a flip top lid for refueling and a piece of wire that rotates. On the back is a hook for attaching the lamp to a hard hat. Inscribed on the bottom of the resevoir is ' UNITED STATES OF AMERICA '. INSCRIBED ON THE TOP OF THE LAMP IS ' MADE IN USA/PAT NO. 231/JUSTRITE/ '.
Narrative
Carbide lamps were a great advance over oil lamps and candles. This type of lamp, in common use by 1905, provided a bright light. It was also much safer and healthier for the miners as it did not produce any carbon monoxide and very little carbon dioxide.
