Description
A tapered birch bark basket made with one peice of birch bark. The square bottom has been shaped by cutting a triangular section out on two ends, which have then been folded up and secured inside the basket with a narrow bark or leather lacing. These ends have been folded up after the two ends have been sewn together. The rounded top of the basket is trimmed with an overhanded style of stitching.

Description
1980.183.4a: A brown tin lunch box with a thick brown leather handle for carrying. The handle is secured at either end with metal clamps. On the bottom is stamped Patented FE 11-8 MA 1313 D.R.P. 550198. Underneath the handle are three sets of ventilation slots on the top of the box 1980.183.4b There is a sturdy brass metal, half circle pull tab at one end for opening the box with Universal L.F.& Co imprinted on it. Once it is opened two sections can be seen. The top section is for a thermos and the bottom part is for the lunch. On the opposite top end of the box, there is a round dented circle where the thermos would have pushed against it from the inside.

Katie O'Neill was referred to by some as an historian. She was born in Barkerville, raised on the Queen Charolettes, became a nurse, worked in several places, helped raise many children, and became somewhat of an historian. Description
A rectangular willow basket with flared sides. Willow frame creates a small base stand. The sides, 2/3rds up, are alternately woven with a uniform design (grass?). The top 3rd is open with willow framing. Along the top rim is the same material design, lashed to the rim of the basket.
History Of Use
George DeWitt 1929-1987. Mr. DeWitt was very active in the community. He was the Building Supervisor for the Federal Building and served as a president and vice president for the BV Museum. For more info, see Historical Research file: DeWitt,George. This basket appears to have been used to serve food as it is not strong nor does it have a tight enough weave to be used for cooking.

Cream colored ceramic plate. This plate has a wide flaring rim with scalloped border. Thin indentations are evenly spaced around the rim. There are some traces of gilding on the border. a) A white ceramic teacup. The rim flares out slightly from the waist of the cup. From the waist to the base, the cup is ribbed at an angle. The cup is decorated with a floral design and gilding. The gilding is on the rim and the handle. On the bottom is "Old Foley" in blue and "James Kent Stafforfshire England" in black. b) Combination saucer/plate. The rim is gilded and scalloped. The saucer is completly round expect for where a hand grip is located. The plate is partially round and forms a 'c' where it meets the saucer. Both are decorated with floral designs. On the back of the plate is a crown with 'Queen Anne' above it and 'Fine Bone China England' below it. A short distance under that is '149 A' stamped in black.
