History / Biographical
On Good Friday, April 8th 1966, a massive ice jam flooded the Bulkley River and destroyed 2 of the 3 spans of the bridge. This bridge had been built in 1944 to replace the previous one, which had itself been washed out twice (in 1936 and 1943). The bridge was repaired later in April 1966, but replaced in 1969 by a bridge at a new location and demolished in 1970.
