History Of Use
According to the donor the gown was made by her paternal grandmother Barbara Evitt. Barbara and Arthur Evitt had a son named Leonard Evitt who married Winnifred Grant in Smithers in 1942, and the donor was born in 1944. The family left Smithers around 1945.

Name of manufacturer not readable, but "Vancouver Canada" is at bottom of tag.
History Of Use
The Smithers Pontiacs baseball team played in the Northwest BC league for four seasons from 1961 to 1964. According to the Interior News they played their first game in May 1961, wearing white uniforms with red piping, red caps, and red and white sox. They won the championship in 1961 (the first year the league existed) under the guidance of Coach Gordon Dilling and team captain Bill Kilpatrick. According to Sept 27 1961 edition of the Interior News, Bill Kilpatrick played centre field.

A heavy black canvas turnout gear jacket used by volunteer firemen and used only for fire fighting The collar is brown cordroy.It has four heavy metal clips down the front for doing it up. The name JERRY is printed across the front of the left hand side.The large red dot painted on the back was so they could easily be spotted in a fire. There is a rubber lining inbetween the inner lining and outer fabric of the jacket.

Interior News articles for the Smithers Tyees baseball team appear as early as 1947. The team played in 1949 and 1951, and consistently from 1953-1966. The team was part of the Bulkley Valley Baseball League. In 1966 the Tyees dropped out of the league due to lack of players.

The initials of the original owner, Grace Schuster, are sewn into the inside of the jacket.
History Of Use
Sold by Regal Furs to John Schuster for his wife Grace Schuster. Belonged to Grace until 2012 when she gave it to the donor. The Schusters lived in Telkwa and Smithers for 30-40 years.
