A: This is a tarnished silver medal 3-1/2 cm across. It is round in shape. The head of King George VI is on the front. Around the bust of King George is written "George IVS VIL G. BR. OMN REX ET INDIAE IMP". On the back of the medal is written 1939 1945. There is a lion standing on the body of a mythological-type creature with an eagle head, large cat body & reptilian tail. B: The ribbon 15 cm long and is red, blue and white. C: The pin is silver coloured and 6-1/2 cm long. It has a safety clasp on the back. D: cream coloured box with C.V.S.M. stamped across in black. There is also a pen mark.

Narrative
Part of a larger donation from Art and May Simpson. Art came to the Bulkley Valley in 1925. May came to the Valley in 1924. Mr. Simpson worked at Duthie Mine. He owned his own business from the late 20s to 1946. The couple lived at 3849 16th Ave. from 1950s to 1998. Mr. Simpson died May, 1997. Mrs. Simpson went to live at the Bulkley lodge October 1998. The donation was given by son and daughter, William Simpson and Marge Buchanan.
