Narrative
Note with tams reads: "Chuck and I wore these tams on the float in the parade celebrating Smithers Jubilee (50 years). The Picture Loan Assoc. entered and we dressed as artists working at an easel. The caps included here were supplied by CIL Paints, and if memory serves me well, there were five of us on the back of the truck".

Description
Brown hat made of hard plastic but with faux leather design. Looks similar to another hard hat in the collection but that hat has real leather design. String weaves in and out of band of hat and ties in a simple knot in front. Could be used for tightening the band of the hat. One one end is a leather loop screwed, alogn with an orange and blue sticker (peeling) that has side profile of a stylized man with a gas mask and hard hat. The sticker says "Draeger Man" which is a term to refer to mine rescue workers.On the other end is metal and leather stand for slotting in a carbide lamp, perhaps.

History Of Use
Part of an early fire proximity suit. According to donation sheet, the helmet was used by airport firefighters at the Smithers Airport. Likely used in the 1960s, but the style is similar to older types.
