History / Biographical
Ernest Mostyn Hoops came to the Bulkley Valley from Ireland, with his brother Brabazon Muchamon Mostyn Hoops, and sister, Constance Eileen Mostyn Hoops. Hoops worked as a notary public and was in partnership with Thomas Thorp, operating an insurance business. Additionally, Hoops invested in mining and land.
Hoops married Theresa (Terry) Kelly after meeting in Smithers. Their only child, Sheila Hoops, was born in Telkwa in 1916, and raised in Smithers, B.C. Once Hoops retired, he and Terry moved to White Rock, B.C.
Custodial History
Karen Langlois' mother, Sheila Hoops, saved these records before transferring them to Karen in 1977.
Scope and Content
Fonds is arranged into two series: Personal papers and Photographs. Personal papers include legal, financial, and miscellaneous records.
Arrangement
No original order was perceived when records were processed. Legal and financial records have been kept together but reordered chronologically, while miscellaneous records were separated and made into their own file.

History / Biographical
Eva Williamson was born in Middleton, Yorkshire in 1923 to Ivy and John Williamson, a greengrocer. Eva was trained as a tailoress. During the Second World War she worked in a munitions factory and served as neighbourhood fire warden. In 1942 she met Canadian soldier Carl Anderson of Smithers B.C. Carl served with the 7th and 8th Light Anti-Aircraft Brigades in England from 1940-1944, and then served a tour in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany from 1944-1945. They courted for three years through letters and short visits. During this time Eva also began corresponding with the Andersons in Smithers. They were maried May 12th 1945, four days after the German surrender. Carl returned to Smithers, and Eva was able to immigrate in 1946. She sailed on the S.S. Aquitania, which set sail April 24 1946. She arrived in Halifax April 30th, and took a 6 day train ride to Smithers. Sons Roy and Peter were born in 1947 and 1949. Eva passed away on January 17 1998.
