a) Square brown soapstone pedestal. The engraved plaque on the pedestal reads: "To / Mr. Ernie Hann / for his services towards the / Smithers Golden Jubilee Ice Project / Artificial Ice / B.V. Community Association / Smithers Civic Centre 1964." There is green felt padding on the bottom.
b) Brown fountain pen.
c) Golden pen holder that fits into the pedestal. Can be adjusted into three different position.
- History Of Use
- Ernest Hann 1889-1982. See Historical Research file: Hann,Ernest/Addie for more information. This pen set was given to Ernie in appreciation for his services towards the Golden Jubilee Project, which was putting the artificial ice into the Civic Centre in 1964. Mr. Hann dedicated his time for his share of community work. He was involved with the School board, Hospital Board, several clubs, band, curling, lapidary, Masonic Lodge, and the Fall Fair. Ernie Hann was also the founder of the BV Museum in 1967.

- 1997.51.9a: A long, very slender, white pen & ink nib pen with a 3cm long band of gold at the nib end. 5.9cm down from the top end is a 1cm band of gold coloured metal. Total length of pen is 13.4cm. The white part of the pen appears to be pearlized and has small nubs spaced evenly down to the gold band at the bottom. On one side of the gold band is printed Mabie Todd & Co. N22 (possibly the nib size for the pen?)
1997.51.9b: A 16.3cm long black case for the pen with a depth of 1.4cm. The ends of the case are rounded with small brass hooks at either end to hold it shut. Case is very fragile, should not be opened.
