History Of Use
No known personal history on the donor at this time. Past cataloguing stated this basket was made by Coast Salish. The design is made with Cherry bark and Spruce root. The Salish technique is such that if the basket was soaked, it would become water tight and could be used in a method of cooking which utilized hot stones placed in the container.

History Of Use
No known personal history on the donor at this time. From past cataloguing, it was stated only that this basket was made by Interior First Nations people, quite possibly the Salish. The design is made with Cherry bark and Spruce root. The Salish technique is such that if the basket was soaked, it would become water tight and could then be used in cooking, by placing hot stones inside. There are Coast & Interior Salish.

Brown predominently but with lines of black framing this stitching. No pattern on the outside of the basket but several marks as if it has come into contact with something. The walls of the basket are hard and sturdy.
