Bellows are a large wooden and leather teardrop shaped item with 29cm metal nozzle on the end. Leather is accordion between the two wooden paddles. There is a 15.5cm (diameter) hole on one side of paddle near the bottom. A 4.5cm by 4.5cm strip of wood runs along the bottom bellows on each side just above this hole. A metal bar runs horizontally through the belly of bellows extending 7.5cm on each side. A metal hook is on the bottom of bellows. The overall color of bellows is painted dark brown with black tar like sealer on the seams running vertically.
History Of Use
Bellows were used by blacksmiths to keep the coals hot. It was hooked up to a pole that was operated by hand to keep air blowing on the hot coals.
