- History / Biographical
- Donald Simpson began prospecting on Hudson Bay Mountain in the early 1900s with his brother James, in an area now known as Simpson's Gulch. He acquired the Victory Group of claims around 1906 and the Empire Group around 1909. Donald's wife Mary assisted him with this work after their marriage in 1915. The Empire Group was partially sold to Axel Elmstead in 1934, and eventually fully sold by Mary sometime after Donald's death in 1936. The Victory Group remained in the Simpson family until 2019.
- Custodial History
- Items in accession 2020.39 were in the ownership of the Simpson family for many years before being donated by Elizabeth Cameron, granddaughter of James Simpson, on October 2nd 2020.
