- History / Biographical
- Born in Bellis, Alberta on July 11th 1929, Peter John Goruk was transferred to Smithers in 1966 while working as a Canadian National Railway (CN) telegraph operator. During his career with CN, he travelled and moved frequently to places that would allow him to spend time outdoors. He fell in love with the Bulkley Valley and spent much of his time in the area exploring the mountains and rivers and documenting his travels through photographs and detailed journals. Later in life, he developed a love for the ocean and travelled frequently to the BC coastline. Peter continued to work for CN until his retirement in 1985. He was married and had two children, Geraldine (Britton) and Ronald. He passed away on January 8th 2002 at the age of 73.
