- History / Biographical
- The Mexico-Siberia Plane, named the "Polar Bear," flown by American pilot C.O. Prest and his mechanic L. M. Bach, was lifted by heavy winds and throw into Acropolis Hill near Prince Rupert, BC in September 23,1921. The two men from Las Vegas, Nevada left Tijuana, Mexico in July, flew north in through the Interior, crossing the Rockies via Jasper to Prince George. They continued on towards the coast, had an accident in Hazelton and the plane was transported across the Skeena River in a canoe to South Hazelton, where is was shipped to Prince Rupert. This photo may be from that trip across the Skeena ("Mexico-Siberia Plane Returning," Vancouver Sun, October 6, 1921).
