- John "Jack" Perry Chapman was born on July 28, 1916, in South Vancouver, B.C., to Isaac and Lulu Chapman (the latter was a sister of Winnie Goodacre). In 1919, the family moved to Telkwa where Isaac worked for the Canadian National Railway. In 1921 they moved to Smithers. Jack Chapman married Audrey Clarkston in 1939. He owned the City Transfer until 1965 and worked various other jobs until his retirement in 1977. Jack passed away May 31, 2005.
