History / Biographical
The fire occurred in the early hours of September 17th 1990. A family living on the second floor of the building escaped unharmed. Sawdust insulation in the walls of the old building fed the fire, which took 21 firefighters over 5 hours to put out. (Houston Today, September 19th 1990).
Custodial History
Print was presumably made from a photo taken by Bill Dungate. It came into the possession of Dino Laramie sometime after Dungate's death and was donated by him to the Museum prior to 2020, along with a large number of other Dungate prints and slides. It was accessioned in September/October 2022.
