- The Red Hat Society is an international recreational and social organization for women, particularly those aged 50 and above. It was founded in the United States in 1998. The Smithers & Houston chapter, known as the "Ruby Reds/Jewels of the North," appears to have been founded in or shortly before 2005. Its leaders ('Queens') were, in chronological order: Margaret Watt, Betty Kennedy, and Pat Scott.

- Items were donated by Karen Coldwell on September 3rd 2022 and accessioned on September 13th-14th 2022 by Museum staff.

- File contains primarily textual and graphic material produced by or relating to the Smithers Red Hat Ladies' society. This includes a photo album originally belonging to Red Hats member Pat McCammon, additional loose photographs, greeting cards, handwritten notes, a guest book, a lifetime certificate for Pat McCammon, Christmas dinner menus, lists of members, a songbook, "Night Before Christmas" storybook, and a CD with 25 digital images on it.
