- Reg Heal (1917-2004) was born to Ernest and Mary Heal on the family farm near Telkwa. He worked on the farm and in the Telkwa Coal Mine, as well as cutting ice on Lake Kathlyn. In 1943 he married Jean Gregerson, with whom he had two children, Lawrence and Barbara. In 1956 the Heals moved to Smithers, where Reg worked for the school district.
