- John ‘Jack’ Chapman (1916-2005) was born in South Vancouver to Isaac and Lulu Chapman and moved to Telkwa with his family in 1919. He ran City Transfer (Mulder Concrete) from 1946 to 1965 and worked for the Town of Smithers from 1967 to 1977. Chapman was married twice (Audrey Clarkston, Mabel Rutherford) and had four children: Judy, Clark, Merry, and Ian. He was a WWII veteran and an active member of the Elks, the Smithers Ski Club, and the Bulkley Valley Museum Society.
