History / Biographical
The Gilbert family came from Stettler, Alberta to the Bulkley Valley in 1919 and ran a farm in the Driftwood hills for the next several decades.
Custodial History
Items from 2021.22 accession were donated by Janice Gilbert on September 9th and 15th 2021 and June 10th 2022.
Scope and Content
Series is comprised of documents created for and collected by the Gilbert family. Includes school exercise books used by Ron Gilbert between 1945 and 1947, certificates for Ron Gilbert from Driftwood School (1942) and University of BC (1953), an agricultural newsletter for Skeena-Bulkley Valley (1955), the 1953 report of the Dominion Experimental Farm, and a program for the 1964 Burns Night banquet and dance held in Smithers. A separate subseries has been created for documents relating to the Gilbert brothers’ forestry careers.
