The Central Park Building Society was incorporated in 1978 to preserve and administer the Heritage Central Park Building, originally built in 1925 to serve as Smithers’ government building, courthouse, and jail. The society provides rental space to not-for-profit organizations, such as the Bulkley Valley Museum and Smithers Art Gallery, and has overseen major renovations to the building.
