- History Of Use
- Angus McLean 1889-1969. Angus arrived in the Hazelton in 1909 as a prospector. He soon became disillusioned and went to work for the Public Works. He helped build the original road from Hazelton to Burns Lake. In 1912 he moved to Smithers. When it was known for sure the railroad was coming, he helped lay the first foundations of Main Street by filling up the swamp with trees & brush, then covering it with gravel. Throughout his life, he still had several mining claims. He worked some of these until 1957. For more info see Historical File: McLean, Angus.
