- Large smooth stone. One side has a large opening that graduates to a small exit hole. The hole is egg-shaped. The opposite side has 2 chips at the top of the hole. There is a natural dark outline on the rock's surface.
- History Of Use
- This sinker stone is granodiorite, which is close to granite. Sinkers were attached to various types of fish gear, from the small fish gorge and the trolling line, to the big halibut hooks, to the outstretched fish net which kept it hanging vertically. Heavier stones tied to long bark ropes (usually cedar) were anchors for canoes.
