Description
A large, brown cast iron teakettle with an elongated spout and an iron handle. The sides of the kettle are straight, tapering slightly outwards to a broad, flat band at the shoulders. The gently sloping shoulders have a molded joint at front and back, to which the rigid handle is attached. The narrow, oval handle is flattened at both ends, with a thicker, rounded section at the middle. There is a narrow lip around the center opening, and there is a short collar at the base of the long, S-shaped spout where it is attached to the body. The bottom of the kettle has imprinted markings: 'A. KENDRICKS & SONS / 4 PINTS" and 'PATENT NO. 1'. There is no lid.
History Of Use
Iron teakettle. Presumably this kettle was used by the parents of Mr. Dick Maywood. Dick moved to the Bulkley Valley in 1951 from Sechelt and was a longtime resident of the Bulkley Valley. He lived on Columbia Drive in Smithers and worked for B.C. Hydro.
