Description
a: white plastic helmet with plastic insert lined with foam. Plastic insert is affixed with metal screws. On underside of the front lip it reads "SAFETY SUPPLY COMPANY / SAFE - T - CAP / MADE IN CANADA". b-c: plastic face shield (b) with hood (c). Exterior of the hood is a silver aluminized fabric, interior is a thick grey wool-like material for heat shielding. Plastic face shield affixed to the front. Tag sewn into the inside reads "FYREPEL T.G. / Model 311 AG / FYREPEL PRODUCTS INC. / NEWARK OHIO / MADE IN USE"
History Of Use
Part of an early fire proximity suit. According to donation sheet, the helmet was used by airport firefighters at the Smithers Airport. Likely used in the 1960s, but the style is similar to older types.
