- 1990.51.1a: A small, 4.99 cm long, brass key with a hole in the top end with R.M.Co. stamped on one side and C.N.R. at the top on the other and a "S" stamped one side the hole, indicating that this key is probably a switch key for switching the tracks from one side to the other.
1990.51.1b: A long 9.5 cm brass key with a hole in one end. C.N.R is stamped at the top of one side with "Mitchell Canada" stamped below the hole on the opposite side.
1990.51.1 c-f a selection of four metal keys -
- one 7.0cm long brass key with a hole at the top;
- one 6.4 metal key with 3 rings engraved below the top hole.
- one 3.5cm key with"Eagle lock stamped across the top and the number 193 stamped at the bottom;
- one 3.0 metal key with no markings on it.
Keys are looped together with a small metal chain..
- History Of Use
- Possibly a set of a railroad workes' keys. The brass key with "C.N.R. and S' engraved on would have been a switch key for switching the tracks for the trains to run on.
