Description
Card (a) is a postcard style (no interior) rectangular shaped card. It's front is a deep yellow colour with a drawing of a young woman wearing a white and blue dress with pink flowers. She is holding and is surrounded by paper lanterns. Text reads: "Many Glad Returns! / I wouldn't miss congratulatin' / One I like in / heaps o'ways / 'Course I'm glad / you're celebratin' / One more year / of happy days!" Card (b) is postcard style. It has a blue border with gold accenting. There is an image of a cottage with trees and flours. The detailing appears handpainted. Text reads "Congratulations / on passing / your recent / examinations!" Card (c) is a postcard style wedding card. It has an image of the bridge and groom under an arch surrounded by flowers and wedding bells. Gold detailing. Possibly handpainted coloured accents. Text reads: "On your / WEDDING DAY / This card is coming to convey / Congratulations for this day / As well as something else beside - / Best wishes for the groom and bride". Made in USA stamped on the back. Card (d) is a folded card. The front has an image of the Union Jack flag with two ships at sea, and two seagulls flying. It reads "Birthday Greetings to One in the Service". There is a white rope tied to the large flag, and a piece of braided white string tied to the card, perhaps to appear as if the rope is three dimensional. The string also ties the folds of the card together. The card opens along a curved edge at one of the ships. Inside it reads "Here's hoping / that your birthday / And each day / the whole year through / May have some special / cause for joy / Held in store / for you!"
