History Of Use
The Kodak Petite was made from 1929 to 1933. It was a Vest Pocket Kodak Model B which used 127 film and came in five colors including blue, green, gray, lavender, and old rose with matching coloured bellows. Several special versions were also made with special art-deco patterns on the front door including the step-pattern and diamond-door versions. A Kodak advertisement appearing in Ladies’ Home Journal’s April 1930 issue described the camera as: Gay as seventeen…feminine as Eve…smart as an Easter hat…is this exquisite Eastman creation. Paris inspired, it reflects the mode of spring. Aptly named, Kodak Petite is a lovely little camera no larger than your hand. Like all members of the famed Kodak family, it takes wonderful pictures…clean-cut, sparkling. And, so easily…you simply press a lever. On Easter, when you stroll about in a world that’s fresh from Fashion’s easel, take this dainty camera with you. You’ll not only add some remarkably good snapshots to your album, but you’ll add a bit of subtle flattery to your costume. Kodak’s Petite, with neatly patterned cases to match, come in five alluring colors- a sparkling green, a warm gray, a delicate lavender, a robin’s egg blue, and a rich old rose. Picture size is 13/8 × 2½”. Price, with case to match, $7.50. See Kodak Petite at any Kodak dealer’s. Found small green sticky note inside case - likely from whoever that first accessioned the camera - which reads "Presented as birthday gift to donor's mom in 1931 circa(?)." Disposed of sticky note because looks like Betty wrote it. - this last note by Eric Holdijk
