- Description
- Carved wooden frame with round circles across the top and half circles down the sides. There are three wooden stars, one in each corner. A fourth star is missing from the bottom left hand corner. The wood has been stained, and gold paint applied for decoration. Framed inside is a picture of men and women caroling at a street light, with the words "Our Christmas Waits" written at the bottom. There is a hinged folding stand at the back of the framed, this may have been added at a later date as it is a different wood than the rest of the frame. The picture inside is taped in. It reads "E. Hann / Framed Jan 21 1963".
- History Of Use
- Item was reputedly made by an unnamed rancher at Chicken Lake (Lake Kathlyn) out of an apple box. It was whittled with a jack knife. The frame was raffled by the Red Cross during the First World War as a fundraiser. It was won by Martin Dahl and then later given to Granny Bannister in 1914.
