- Description
- Wooden butter churn consisting of a barrel, cover and a dasher. The barrel is basically cylindrical, narrowing towards the top. The sides are constructed of fitted slats and bound by three, narrow rounded metal bands positioned near the base, middle and top. There is a wider, flat band encircling the top. The bottom is solid. The round, solid wood cover seats into a narrow recessed ledge at the top. It has a circular depression and a hole at the center, through which the handle of the dasher moves. The dasher is made of two pieces of wood joined to form a cross-shaped base which is fitted to the bottom of the long, broomstick handle. Dimensions--Wood cover (b)--dia. 20 cm. h-2 cm. Dasher (c)--l-91 cm. dia. top-2 cm. dia. base 16.5 cm.
