- Description
- An all wood jack plane with wooden knob at one end and a whittled upright handle at the other (removable). In the middle is a metal cutter with wooden wedge to secure blade (secured so well, it could not be removed). The knob handle at the front is secured to the plane with a large screw drilled down the middle. The cutters exposed metal has the manufactures stamp 'OHIO TOOL CO / COLUMBUS OHIO USA' with what appears to be a stamp of the world.
- History Of Use
- No history at this time on the donor, Joe Adams. Jack planes were made for the hardest and roughest work. The large cutter was usually slightly convex for rapid removal of excess stock. Wooden jack planes range from 14 to 18 inches. The newer, all metal variety are usually a uniform 14 inches.
