Description
a) black cloth hat with a flat brim, top is coated in plastic. Grey decorative cord is stretched across front of the hat and held at each side by silver buttons embossed with a design that looks like an urn or harp. Inside is a faded grey makers mark: "A.B. Hewer Co. / Caps". Brown leather band around the interior rim. b) gold pin with same symbol as the silver buttons, pinned to front of the hat.
History Of Use
Band hat worn by Reginald Collison as a member of the Smithers Band (sometimes called "Gray's Orchestra"). Collison arrived in Smithers in 1928, died in 1985.
