Peek Frean & Co started by James Peek & George Frean. Peek Frean & Co. was the first mass producer of biscuits and employed over 3,000 people in its time from when it opened in 1866 to when it closed in the late 80s (1989)
Description
a) A flat, cream-colored, rectangular tin. The sides of the box show a scene of men riding horses in the country. Both ends are similar to each other, as are front and back. The bottom of the box has a remnant of label with pictures of cookies and 'PEEK FREAN LONDON' printed on one cookie and "PEEK FRE.. JERS... CREA.. LONDON" printed on another cookie. b) The push-on lid for the tin with a picture of a jockey in a red and blue jacket with gold trim, white pants, and a black hat. 'GORDON RICHARDS (Champion British Jockey)' is printed on the front edge of the lid.
