- Wooden clothes wringer comprised of two wooden legs with attached wood slats. There are two rollers fastened in between the slats. At either ends of the rollers are metal discs. At the top of the clothes wringer is a wooden dowel with metal key-like pieces attached. Attached at the side of the clothes wringer is a metal crank with a wooden handle. Written in black print on the front and back of the clothes wringer in "IMPROVED HORSE BRAND CLOTHES WRINGER WARRANTED 6 YEARS FOR FAMILY USE'' . There is a movable wooden flat slat with metal attachments under the roller section. There is a metal round rod braced between the two legs. Imprinted in black on one side is "PATENTED NOV. 19-1901 UNIVERSAL BALL BEARING FOLDING BENCH WRINGER EXTRA HIGH GRADE WARRANTED REG. U.S. PAT. OFF GOOD LUCK" and "PATENTED NOV. 19-1901 THIS WRINGER HAS STEEL BALL BEARINGS SAME AS ARE USED IN HIGH GRADE BICYCLES. OIL THE BEARINGS BEFORE AND AFTER USING AND LOOSEN TOP SCREW WHEN THE WRINGER IS NOT IN USE".
- History Of Use
- Clothes wringer used for wringing out clothes. Clothes wringers such as this one were used in the early 1900's. When the wringer was used, wet clothes had to be fed by hand into the wringer to squeeze out excess moisture so that the clothes could be hung out to dry. Wringers such as this one were advertised in 1902 Sears Catalogue, p.571
